Full Description:
The Georgetown Divide Recreation District (GDRD) serves an isolated rural area of El Dorado County. The “Divide,” as it is commonly called, is the landmass dividing the north and south forks of the American River in the California Sierra Foothills. It covers 412 square miles and has a population if approximately 13,4000.
The GDRD is an independent special district approved by voters in 1998. Our goals are to develop a community park in each established community as well as a regional park complex. We have acquired 141 acre site located along State Highway 193, just east of Greenwood which is nearly equidistant between the communities of Georgetown, Garden Valley and Cool.
