Local Parents Create New Preschool
Sept. 5, 2006 Greenwood Ca. – A group of local parents have joined forces to provide their children with a new parent participation preschool.
Mt. Kids’ Co-Op was born of a desire to bring children a learning environment that functions as an extension of the founding parents’ ideals of healthy attachment to home and family as well as peaceful parenting practices. The preschool will offer children an opportunity to learn and grow socially through creative play in a nurturing environment that is consistent with the parenting they receive at home.
Currently nearly a dozen local families are involved in the formation of the new preschool, which will consist of one dozen children and an equal number of parent volunteers. School will be in session beginning Sept. 5, 2006 and will be held two days a week. The preschool’s vacation schedule will follow that of the Black Oak Mine Unified School District.
The new preschool has partnered with the Georgetown Divide Recreation District and will operate in Greenwood at the old schoolhouse. The schoolhouse is currently on the schedule for renovations by the GDRD, and parent volunteers will fulfill the obligations of the partnership by participating in GDRD activities during the year.
