Calling All Entries for the El Dorado County Fair

Enter Often, Enter Early – You Have What It Takes!

 Has your child painted the most beautiful and insightful self-portrait ever?  Is it getting just a tad embarrassing to hear your neighbors gush on about your beautiful roses?  Do you have a knack for sheep shearing, tomato growing, or photo taking?  If so, there’s a place for you at the El Dorado County Fair, coming June 17-20 to the fairgrounds in Placerville.

This year’s theme, “A World of Fun at the El Dorado County Fair,” offers residents the opportunity to take the ultimate “faircation.” Themed areas of popular vacation destinations will be featured, ranging from Graceland to Hawaii and Mardi Gras to Mexico. “Faircation’ describes a wave of frugal families trading a week at the beach for trips to the wheelbarrow races, the demolition derby, the carnival, and now a mini tour of the world—without ever leaving home!,” says Gray.

How to Enter- From digital photography to jelly, jam, or salsa making…from plein air painting to singing…team sorting to cultural dancing…and wine making to quilting; the El Dorado County Fair offers hundreds of opportunities for children and adults to showcase their talents…and just plain have fun! Fair Entry Deadlines- Livestock entry forms are due by 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010.  Entry forms for all other categories are due Friday, May 14, 2010. Entries may be mailed or delivered to the fair office (100 Placerville Drive • P.O. Box 1537 Placerville, CA 95667), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
